Edge & Center Finders

Edge and center finders are precision measuring tools whose purpose is to measure and identify a spindle to execute a machining job on a workpiece. Besides finding the edges and the center of a piece or hole, these tools can be used to find the center of a mill, a line on an inclined plane, a scribbled line on a mill, or to set zero for a specific task. All these measurements allow the operator to place a workpiece correctly under the spindle and perform the job. While various designs are available, the overall function is the same.

However, while both edge and center finders are mounted in the chuck of a spindle to perform the measurement, the former are used with the tool rotating, while the latter are utilized when the spindle is off. All these tools are offered in several sizes and, in some cases, a body serves as a support to the probes. They are sold individually or come in sets to meet various requirements.
