Nails are one of the most fast and efficient ways of putting two pieces of wood together. Available in a great variety of shapes and sizes, they’re perfect for a wide variety of fastening jobs. Nails are made from different metals, some of which are used with specific materials for completing special projects. They’re commonly made of steel but also from aluminum, nickel and brass. Stainless steel nuts are handy for use in applications that are vulnerable to corrosion. These fasteners come in a variety of coatings, including galvanized, blued and cemented that help prevent rusting and boost their holding power. Nail sizes vary from 1 inch up to 60 inches. Smaller and larger sizes are known as brads and spikes.
The right choice of nail length is a critical factor to make fastening a win-win, since at least two-thirds of the nail will be driven into the base or thicker material. Nails are function based on different application needs. Basic types are common, box, roofing, finish, masonry, drywall, tack and corrugated nails. They’re perfect for a variety of uses such as light, medium and heavy construction work as well as installing paneling, trim, roofing, insulation panels, asphalt shingles and drywall. They’re also useful for fastening to concrete and concrete blocks, securing carpet or fabric to wood and for light-duty joints. We have them all from finish and angled finish nails to interior and exterior framing nail combo packs to metal connector nails, steel and hard concrete pin pieces.
