A grease gun is a tool used in workshops, garages, and service stations for lubrication of various inner mechanisms. Lubricated parts are usually hidden inside large industrial equipment, milling machines, drivetrain components, etc., which require regular grease change for a longer lifespan yet are very complicated to disassemble for that aim. Old grease with wear by-products have to be removed somehow from closed joints, and new lubricant should be applied. Engineers devised the way how to do that – such joints and assemblies are equipped with a special receiving aperture allowing to connect a grease gun and inject several portions of lubricant there. New grease pushes out the old one through different slots and gaps.
There are hand-powered and pneumatic grease guns; the latter use air pressure and are more powerful. Some grease guns inject one portion upon each trigger push, others can supply lubricant all the time while you are holding a trigger.
